The story behind Mewtwo
Mewtwo, rigged for the Pokémon AnimChallenge
Emilio Serrano answered the community challenge and brought Mewtwo into Maya. The rig was made for the July 2021 Pokémon AnimChallenge, part of a collection of 16 rigs released to the animation community.
Mewtwo is Pokémon's tragic villain: genetically engineered, emotionally scarred, and holding psychic power that bends reality. The design is dramatic and precise, with the faint threat of a being that has no reason to rush. The rig pairs expressive face controls with VFX extras, so the monologue and the attack can live in the same shot, and performance and spectacle get explored together.
