The story behind the Alien Egg
The prop that completes the Alien Series
Every horror scene needs its centrepiece, and in the Alien universe nothing signals dread like the Egg. Its opening petals are one of cinema's most recognisable horror moments: beautiful and threatening at the same time.
Emilio Serrano rigged it with the same care he gave the rest of the Alien Series, so the performance lives in the controls: petals unfurling, the interior reacting, the anticipation before it springs. Together with the Space Suit Arms and the Facehugger, the three rigs cover the whole arc of the franchise's best-known sequence with one consistent look.
