The story behind Silky

A jumping spider rig that gets out of your way

Rigging a spider properly means eight legs, a segmented body, multiple eye groups and fine joints, all of which has to deform cleanly when it moves. So many creature rigs are over-engineered, locked away inside production studios, or stiff the moment you start posing them. Flavie Delavaux's Silky lands somewhere better, handling that complexity in a way that stays approachable.

The legs articulate the way you would expect, the body has the right amount of squash and squish, and the face has enough range for proper character moments. The personality is already in the design, so you can push a performance from cute and curious to fast and twitchy in the same shot without fighting the rig.
