AT-ST Rig for Maya is a free rig of the Empire's Star Wars chicken walker, built from scratch in Autodesk Maya by Emilio Serrano. The legs are IK only, which keeps the setup clear for walk cycles, weight shifts and mechanical animation studies, and a sample walking animation and sound FX files come in the download. Model and textures by Igor Oskolskiy. Free under Creative Commons BY-NC 4.0.

Everything the rig ships with. What you get on day one:
A straightforward leg setup for walk cycles, weight shifts and mechanical studies.
An example walking animation shows the intended motion and how the rig is meant to move.
Included for animation previews and tests.
Emilio built the rig in Maya from the ground up, so the controls stay clear and few.
Emilio Serrano rigged this AT-ST walker from scratch in Autodesk Maya, with a clear setup for animators who want to spend their time on motion and mechanics instead of a complicated control scheme.
Keeping the legs IK only makes the walker quick to pick up and easy to animate, and it makes the rig a good fit for learning or polishing fundamentals: the weight of each step, the shift through the body, the rhythm of a two-legged machine. Open the sample walk first to see the motion the rig was built for, then make your own.
Fully rigged for Autodesk Maya, built from scratch.
For clean mechanical animation.
Shows the intended motion and setup.
For animation previews and tests.
