The story behind Lester
The Another World Lester rig, built from scratch
Emilio Serrano did not just rig Lester, he built him. The Another World Lester rig for Maya is a fully in-house creation: modelling, texturing, rigging and animation all handled by Emilio, based on the concept by Jonathan Rush and Lucas Hug.
Lester Chaykin is the reluctant hero of the game, a young physicist pulled through a wormhole into an alien world with nothing but quick thinking between him and certain death. His design makes him a strong subject for animators focused on clarity, weight, and the craft of expressing fear, determination and exhaustion through minimal means.
The humanoid control scheme is clean, and it guides you towards the crouched, tense, survival-oriented performance that defines Lester. He rewards quiet intensity: everything has to come through in the body.
