The Fat Marine is a free mGear rig for Maya of a heavily armed infantry soldier, rigged by Emilio Serrano on a 3D model by Vadim B. He comes in two variants, the Gunner with a rifle and the Swordsman with a blade, and the package adds game-engine FBX files for both, sprite muzzle flash assets and a full AnimPicker. Built for animators after weighty combat, tactical movement and action shots.

Everything the rig ships with. What you get on day one:
A heavy, over-engineered soldier whose silhouette reads from across the screen.
Ranged gunplay or close-quarters sword work, on one consistent character design.
Both variants ship as game-engine FBX files next to the Maya rig.
Sprite muzzle flash assets by Vitaly Kuznetsov for the Gunner's firearm.
Emilio Serrano armoured up for this one. The Fat Marine is a gloriously over-engineered soldier, heavily armed and carrying enough mass to make every step count, and Vadim B's detailed model captures that deliberate, unstoppable energy.
The two variants give you two different combat vocabularies on the same character. As the Gunner he fights at range with a rifle; as the Swordsman he swings steel up close. Either way he brings the same imposing presence to the shot.
It goes well past a bare rig: alongside the Maya file you get the mGear guide, the Python and MEL post-scripts and a picker with its own background image.
Both the Gunner and the Swordsman variants.
SK_FatMarineGunner and SK_FatMarineSwordsman, ready for a game engine.
Sprite assets by Vitaly Kuznetsov for the Gunner.
With a custom background image.
The guide file plus Python and MEL post-scripts.
3D model and textures by Vadim B.
