Spiderverse
In this workshop we will learn techniques that will allow you to work with Spine and After Effects together, to create cinematics and trailers for games, books or just for social media promos. We are using the Spiderman, Into the Spiderverse poster to learn about cameras in After Effects, timing, composition and editing. In parallel, we will learn the Spine workflow, from the cutting in Photoshop to the exporting and merging together with after effects for the final piece.

Parallax
In this workshop we will learn how to use constraints inside Spine to create the illusion of parallax. A technique extensively used in games to convey 3d depth using 2d assets.

Cards
Using Spine only we will create the illusion of 3d, also know as 2.5d, to create cards that will rotate and reveal their backside. We will use constraints and other simple fake 3d techniques to bring the cards to life.

Lego
We will rig and animate a Lego character from the scratch. It is a simple character but very tricky. So we will create solutions for the different parts of the character and use fake 3d controllers to make possible the parts rotates properly following the perspective and as a plus, we will create a rig to make automatic the deformation of the face on a cylinder surface (head).

Cartoon Car
Again using fake 3d (2.5d) and Parallax, we will animate this very funny cartoon car, making it alive and with all the wiggling parts.Showing that the same techniques can be used in a broad range of applications.

Game Animation
In this game animation workshop, we will create a set of animations, as the ones used in game production, considering transitions and covering some basic VFX.

Shadow City – Cinematic scene
We will use characters from Shadow City games, from Play n Words studio to animate a cinematic sequence with two characters. We will cover rigging, animation and storytelling, how to give personality to the characters and use cameras and composition to tell a short story.

Facial Animation
We will cover the rigging of a face considering the main structures to allow acting and lip syncing. For this workshop we will use a sound clip to animate the character speaking, how to create the phonemes and how to create good timing to make it believable.

Walk Cycle in Spine
We are using one of the free rigs from Spinemation to learn how to animate a vanilla walkcycle and add some variation over it.

Primal – Fang
Using the character Fang, from Adult Swim show, Primal, to create some animations cycles as if they are to be used in a game. We cover from rigging to animation.
